Iran confirms nuclear sites damaged. CIA Director claims ‘credible evidence’ they were ‘severely damaged’. But doubts persist. Ceasefire holding.

Impacts on Iran’s nuclear sites: An Iranian official said the country’s nuclear installations were “badly damaged” following “repeated attacks” by Israel and the US. Additionally, an early US intelligence assessment found the US’s weekend strikes on three nuclear sites did not destroy the core components of Iran’s nuclear program and likely only set it back by months, according to sources briefed on the report.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe on Wednesday said in a statement that the agency had obtained “a body of credible evidence [that] indicates Iran’s Nuclear Program has been severely damaged” by recent strikes

It was not clear whether Ratcliffe was offering an official agency assessment or his view of the intelligence.

Donald Trump and the US defence secretary, Pete Hegseth, have admitted to some doubt over the scale of the damage inflicted on Iran’s nuclear sites by the US bombing at the weekend, after a leaked Pentagon assessment said the Iranian programme had been set back by only a few months.
