KLEIN: Canada’s debt spiral mirrors Greece’s collapse

Kevin Klein: Canada’s combined government debt — federal, provincial, and municipal — is approaching $2.1 trillion. That’s about 84% of our GDP, according to the International Monetary Fund. At first glance, you might think, “Well, we’re not Greece yet.” Fair. But look again. Ontario alone has more debt than California, the world’s fourth-largest economy. At last check, Ontario’s debt stood at over $420 billion. That’s bigger than Greece’s entire economy. Manitoba isn’t off the hook either. We’re running deficits every year, and the province’s debt load now exceeds $30 billion…
