In a noteworthy opinion in The Toronto Star, Carney confidant Gerald Butts calls on the Prime Minister to seize ‘a golden opportunity’ to move Canada away from the energy sources of the past towards dispatchable clean energy.
With Mr Butts listed as one of the top ten influential liberals in Prime Minister Mark Carney’s inner circle, this suggests oil and gas projects may not be a top priority in the Carney government’s signature nation-building initiative. Earlier in July, the Prime Minister said it was ‘highly, highly likely’ that an oil pipeline will be on the list.
