YouTube has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a 2021 lawsuit brought by President Trump over the platform’s suspension of his account after the Jan. 6th Capitol riot.
A Trump lawyer stated the President’s re-election was critical in securing the $60 million total from the three tech settlements.
This makes YouTube the final Big Tech company, following Meta ($25M) and X ($10M), to settle a suit with Trump.
$22 million of the settlement will be directed to the Trust for the National Mall to help fund the construction of a White House ballroom project backed by the President.
A further $2.5 million will go to other plaintiffs in the case.
