The United States sanctioned Chinese companies for allegedly providing “dual-use items” to Russian businesses as part of Beijing’s support for Moscow in the Ukraine war. Now, China is retaliating with similar sanctions, and that’s going to be very expensive for the U.S, because China enjoys a quasi-monopoly position in the processing of most of these essential “dual use” commodities.
